School Brief History

Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Mahavidyapeetha (in short JSSMVP), Mysore, Karnataka is a Registered Organisation under the Mysore Societies Registration Act No. 17 of 1960 Vide No. 12/62-63 dated 17-07-1962.

JSSMVP is the largest pioneering eductional organization in Karnataka. JSS Mahavidyapeetha spearheads more than 250 organisations of different kinds in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and UP (NOIDA) with a wide range of Educational Institutions and Social Development Organisations and Projects.

The Head Office of JSSMVP is situated in Mysore. The Institutions functioning under ther umbrella of JSSMVP, work with a two pronged apprach in the field of Education catering to the needs of the rural poor providing basic education and voctional training on the one hand and on the other has established pioneering Institutions of excellence in all fields in several districts of Karnataka mainly in Bangalore and Mysore and in other state like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and so on.

About JSS Free Eduction School at Suttur

JSS School at Suttur is a unique project of JSSMVP providing free education to children from rural families. The children are mainly from Karnataka and a few from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradhesh, Kerala and Maharashtra, Meghalaya. Children in the School/Hostel belong to all Religious, Cast, Creed and Sect. Children are from differnt districts of Karnataka perticularly from the backward Districts of North Karnataka Viz., Bellary, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Haveri and Bidar where drought is a perpetual problem. The selection criteria for the children are: Poverty, Distance to School, Drought Prone Areas, Intelligence and Child with Single Parent or No Parent. The goal of the School is to improve the quality of life of children from rural families. The objectives of the school are

* To empower future generation of underprivileged through education
* To make the child employable by imparting vocational courses
